What's in my Handbag?

Hello everybody and welcome to part two of the 'what's in my bag' series! I hope you have been enjoying them as much as I have. I have of course linked the current bag that I am using as my handbag, but while I change the physical bag from time to time it is rare that the contents changes. It has been pretty much the same since I was a child, with only a few additions over time. Unlike my gym bag, I have more than the essentials in here (not too much, I do have to carry it!) because I like to be prepared wherever I go. (There are no ads, sponsored or gifted items in this post).

The Bag Itself:

I bought this bag in TKMaxx a few months ago and I love it. It's a practical size, it's pretty and the colour goes with everything. Plus the strap is a good length, which is something you don't think about until you have a bag with a strap that's a bad length. I usually go to TKMaxx for my handbags because they tend to be good quality for a reasonable price.

Purse:

I also get my purses from TKMaxx, for the same reason as my bags. Both of my current ones are from Osprey London which are one of my favourite brands that they stock there, so pretty and always good quality.

Card Holder:

I keep my bus pass, student ID and library card separate from my purse as I often take them in to uni and don't want to carry my purse around. This card holder is from Cath Kidston and I chose it because it was the first one I found and it was reasonably pretty.\

My Key:

For obvious reasons I need my house key in my bag, and when I'm at home my car key is in there too. This key ring is also from Cath Kidston.

Foldable Coffee Cup:

I'm trying to be good to the planet recently, so I carry this around in case I ever fancy a coffee (plus I save 25p in loads of coffee shops with it!). This one is from stojo but there's loads of different brands online if you want your own!

Foldable Shopping Bag:

Same as with the coffee cup, I like to save money and the planet so these portable and eco friendly shopping bags are great! As you can see this one is from Waitrose.

Lipstick:

This is the most non-essential item in my bag, but it's a staple nude that goes with everything so it's good to have on me. This one is Mac's Velvet Teddy, which is my favourite at the moment.

The Hunt for the Perfect Bikini

This is a bit of a rambly post so if that's not something you enjoy I'll warn you in advance!

Every year I seem to need a new bikini. Either I have grown out of my old ones, or realised they gave me annoying tan lines, or just decided I don't like them anymore. This year was especially difficult as I had something specific in mind. I wanted a high waisted bikini, as I am self conscious about my belly recently and I wanted it to be under £20, and it couldn't be plain or boring. This was extremely difficult. It took me 3 months of scrolling through various websites (and trying millions on!) before I finally found the right one.

I looked in all of the places recommended to me, Primark, New Look, Misguided, Pretty Little Thing, Debenhams and many many more. I finally got this one on ASOS but I had been on the website a few times before with no success. Part of the problem was that I had restricted myself price wise, part of it was that sizes varied too much and part of it was simply that I was too fussy!

When I finally found the one I was so relieved, and I'm so pleased with it so I wanted to share it with you all for that reason really! All my lovely ladies out there (and occasionally men), just because one bikini makes you look awful doesn't mean that's how you are! It's just not the one for you, so don't give up.

Branching Out

Hello lovely readers! I hope there are some of you out there. I will try and keep this post as short and sweet as I can, as I explain a little about who I am and what my aims are with this blog. I hope you like the sound of it, and feel free to comment any additional post ideas you would like me to do!

A Little About Me

I am 19 years old, and had only ever lived in Worcestershire until I started university in September. I now divide my time between going home to my family, visiting my boyfriend in Oxford and attending lectures in Bath. My hobbies include jogging, blogging, reading, baking, various forms of art and travel. I have also previously enjoyed ballet, swimming, horse riding and netball (although I was never very good). I have two younger brothers who are a big part of my life, and they will feature a lot in my blog posts along with my best friends and boyfriend. My brothers Finn (16) and Linus (12) both have youtube channels, one for music and the other for drawing. Check them out if you are interested! They're called kingfinn music and linoose drawing.

My Blogging Past

For about two years I have been a writer on a blog called The Depreciation Society (check out our posts here and our instagram here). I have enjoyed doing this very much, and will continue to write posts for both blogs (some may be double posted on each) but I would like to do something where I can post a little more regularly without stepping on the toes of my fellow writers, repeating what they have said or drowning them out by posting more than they do. Or on the other hand getting lost when they post more than I do! So I guess what I'm saying is, this new blog is an addition to rather than a replacement for Depsoc.

My Blogging Future

I am planning on doing a variety of posts on this blog, so that there is something for everyone. I am also considering starting a YouTube Channel where I will post similar types of things to what will go on here. Some ideas I have had so far include:

  • Makeup Tutorials
  • Book Reviews
  • Recipes
  • Product Reviews
  • Travel Accounts/Recommendations
  • Shopping Hauls
  • Playlists
  • Tips For Students (e.g. budgeting, studying)
Like I said, I am open to any recommendations! So please comment any requests. Thank you for joining me :)
