Monthly Newsletter: November 2019

Hello everybody, thank you for visiting my blog! Those of you who have followed either this or the depsoc blog may have seen my previous 'month in five photos' blog posts. I wanted to update that idea to talk a bit more about things that I might not necessarily photograph as well, or add more photos if there's activities that warrant that. Each month I'll talk about what I got up to the previous month, so here's what I got up to in October!

Trip to Southampton.

I took a couple of days off to visit my friend Midge in Southampton. We got up to a whole load of fun stuff such as karaoke night, house dinner at an Italian restaurant, making rocky road and shopping. I always love going to see her, although I do miss having her around every day.

Halloween Party.

My friends Abbie and Georgia threw an awesome house party for Halloween. I had way too much candy cane gin and danced and chatted nonsense and it was great. I'm excited for the next one!

Uni Work.

Of course, as a student uni work is a huge part of my life especially now that I'm in third year. I've had a deadline every week this month alongside my dissertation, so it has been intense. On the bright side, the work that I've had marked has come back as firsts! I'm also really enjoying my topics, I've been learning about the culture and politics of food, serial killers and gangsters in crime and women who own property.

Dates with James.

James and I have been trying to do fun things when we're not working, but obviously on a limited budget only allows us to do certain things. We've been to spoons, junkyard golf and one time he treated me to a Wagamamas. It's good to just get out of the house for a couple of hours and spend some time together!

Baking Society.

I rejoined the Baking Society this year, and have been trying to be more involved than I was last year. I've been to bar crawls, baking sessions and a social at a dessert cafe. I've really enjoyed it, and the other girls who do it are really nice so there's always people to talk to!

Gym.

As always I've been going to the gym regularly, although I've had to tone it down since last year because of my workload and physical health. I'm still enjoying it though, especially new classes such as pilates and Zumba!

Review: Too Faced Better Than Sex Eyeliner

*Disclaimer: this is not an ad, this is my honest opinion of a product I bought with my own money.*

Some of you may have seen that Too Faced have recently brought out a new eyeliner that they claim is so good it's better than sex. As you will know if you regularly read my posts, the Better Than Sex mascara is my absolute favourite, so you can imagine my excitement when Too Faced released this partner product. At £18, this is a reasonably expensive product but as far as I can tell that is it's only downfall!
I know it's only a small thing, but I love that the packaging matches the mascara. It makes them look like a perfect pair. It is also very pigmented. So far the only shade available is 'Deepest Black' which I love because it's very classy but possibly they will later have more colours? Watch this space if they do, because I would love to try them!

I was surprised with just how easy this was to apply. I always think felt tip style liners are the easiest, and I have always been happy with the quality of Too Faced products in general so I was expecting it to be good but not quite this good! It really does just glide on, giving a super cute, super easy flick.

Because this eyeliner was so easy to apply, I could put it on straight over my eyeshadow without having to worry that it would smudge or that I'd have to walk out the Q Tips to fix it, which is something I've never found with an eyeliner before.

Finally, because it was so easy to put on it was also super easy to get even. Definitely worth investing in if you want to speed up your makeup routine because this took me literally 10 seconds. I will be recommending this to everyone I know. If you want to try it, you can get in store, at Ulta Beauty or on Too Faced's website which I have linked here. Enjoy!

Branching Out

Hello lovely readers! I hope there are some of you out there. I will try and keep this post as short and sweet as I can, as I explain a little about who I am and what my aims are with this blog. I hope you like the sound of it, and feel free to comment any additional post ideas you would like me to do!

A Little About Me

I am 19 years old, and had only ever lived in Worcestershire until I started university in September. I now divide my time between going home to my family, visiting my boyfriend in Oxford and attending lectures in Bath. My hobbies include jogging, blogging, reading, baking, various forms of art and travel. I have also previously enjoyed ballet, swimming, horse riding and netball (although I was never very good). I have two younger brothers who are a big part of my life, and they will feature a lot in my blog posts along with my best friends and boyfriend. My brothers Finn (16) and Linus (12) both have youtube channels, one for music and the other for drawing. Check them out if you are interested! They're called kingfinn music and linoose drawing.

My Blogging Past

For about two years I have been a writer on a blog called The Depreciation Society (check out our posts here and our instagram here). I have enjoyed doing this very much, and will continue to write posts for both blogs (some may be double posted on each) but I would like to do something where I can post a little more regularly without stepping on the toes of my fellow writers, repeating what they have said or drowning them out by posting more than they do. Or on the other hand getting lost when they post more than I do! So I guess what I'm saying is, this new blog is an addition to rather than a replacement for Depsoc.

My Blogging Future

I am planning on doing a variety of posts on this blog, so that there is something for everyone. I am also considering starting a YouTube Channel where I will post similar types of things to what will go on here. Some ideas I have had so far include:

  • Makeup Tutorials
  • Book Reviews
  • Recipes
  • Product Reviews
  • Travel Accounts/Recommendations
  • Shopping Hauls
  • Playlists
  • Tips For Students (e.g. budgeting, studying)
Like I said, I am open to any recommendations! So please comment any requests. Thank you for joining me :)
