Peacock Eyeshadow Tutorial

I'm super excited for this post! I've wanted to write this for a while but never got around to it. It's a little bolder than I would usually go for, so I've enjoyed doing something a bit different. I hope you all find this as much fun as I did.

First of all, let's go through the products I used for this look!

Concealers:

Natural Collection Liquid Concealer in shade Fair.

No.7 Match Made Concealer in shade Cool Ivory.

Foundation:

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation (Sample).

Eyeshadows:

No.7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Single in Violet Shine.

No.7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Single in Matte Plum.

No.7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Single in Turquoise Shine.

Eyebrow Pencil:

Benefit Goof Proof in shade 3.5.

Mascara:

Too Faced Better Than Sex (Birthday Edition).

Eyeliners:

Crayola Beauty Face Pencil in Periwinkle.

Isadora Twist-Up Metallic Eye Pencil in shade 46 Silver Sky.

I also used the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and the Too Faced Rich and Dazzling gloss in Social Butterfly to finish off the look.

Step 1:

First I covered my blemishes with the No.7 concealer and put the Natural Collection concealer on my eyelids as an eyeshadow primer. Then I added a light layer of foundation.

Step 2:

I blended Violet Shine into the crease of my eyelids.

Step 3:

I pressed Matte Plum onto the outer edge of the eyelid.

Step 4:

I blended Turquoise Shine onto the inner half and into the inner corner of the eyelid.

Step 5:

I blended a tiny bit of the Crayola face pencil at the outer corner of the eye.

Step 6:

I lined my bottom lid with the Isadora eyeliner.

Step 7:

I added mascara and filled in my eyebrows.

Step 8:

I set my face and added a nude gloss. Then I took some selfies, because I really enjoyed this fun new look! I will absolutely wear it again.

Zoella x Colourpop Brunch Date Palette

I ordered the Zoella x Colourpop Brunch Date Palette on the day it launched and it came quite quickly considering it was imported from America. I luckily got free delivery so the palette was mid priced (£17). Be aware that taxes aren't added until you're choosing your payment options on the website though!

The packaging is very cute, and the shades all have sweet brunch related names such as 'Pancakes Please' and 'Sunny Side Up'. But as well as those fun novelties, this palette has many other things going for it. First of all, the shades are very wearable. Brown, pink, matte and sparkly nudes and one bright blue one for if you're feeling brave enough to add a splash of colour. This means it is easy for beginners and experienced makeup enthusiasts alike to create beautiful looks for any occasion. The mattes and more subtle nudes for everyday, and the blue and glitter for going out. Plus, they're super pigmented and easy to blend. Overall I'd give this palette an 8/10. It's fab, but doesn't quite match up to the likes of my Too Faced and Urban Decay equivalents (although you'd hope not considering the price difference). The budget eyeshadow which actually works!

You may have recently read my review of the Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette (available here if you want to check that out). I must say that since that post, Too Faced has made their products available on ASOS who offer free delivery over £20 and a 10% student discount so that makes it slightly more affordable. I said in that post that I struggle to find good eyeshadows for a low price, and my friend Lucy messaged me after to recommend a palette she uses that is available for only £12 from Boots. I decided to try it and I absolutely loved it so I thought I'd write about it on the blog and spread the word! As always, I must mention that this is not an ad, and I have not been paid in goods or services to write this post.

This palette is by a brand called Obsession Makeup London, and as well as this incredibly good value palette, they do a huge range of individual eyeshadow colours for £2 if you want to try them before you buy the whole palette. It comes in this pretty marbled packaging as well which I like. Lucy said she found it was a good dupe for the Urban Decay Heat palette, and I agree. This palette comes with 24 shades whereas the Urban Decay ones only have 12 which makes this even more brilliant. The top half is matte colours, and the bottom half is metallics in a range of pinks, purples, golds and nudes. I am planning on posting a makeup look using this palette on YouTube soon so stay posted!

The case has a huge mirror in, big enough to do your whole face of makeup in if you needed to which made me happy, and every single colour on this palette is something I would use. It is well pigmented, not quite as good as the more expensive urban decay and too faced palettes but considering the price difference this is completely acceptable. It also blends nicely which is good. I would definitely recommend this palette, especially if you need to watch how much you're spending. It is much better than the other dupes I have heard recommended to me (such as the Primary Amber palette which I found terribly chalky). It also lasts a really long time without the need for a setting spray! All in all a fantastic product.

Product Review: Too Faced Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Palette Review

My student loan dropped on Monday and I used the opportunity to treat myself to this product that I have wanted for a while. Zoella has raved about it in many of her videos, and I tested it in Sephora in Venice and I could not resist. As this is an expensive item, I thought a review might be helpful for anyone who is on the fence about trying it (and I also wanted an excuse to show off my purchase!), so here is my post to do that.

Availability and Price

I live in the UK, so it was difficult to get my hands on this! I eventually found it in Debenhams (who offer free next day click and collect) and bought it there. I also couldn't find it in my local store so I would recommend ordering it if you do want it. As I said, this is a pretty expensive palette. I paid £39 for it, and I couldn't get student discount which was annoying. However, I don't feel you can get this good quality in a cheap eyeshadow so it is worth the money. You also get a lot of shades for this money, which means that there is a colour for every occasion and you'll get your money's worth of use out of it.

Blendability and Pigmentation

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is honestly beautiful. So much colour which makes it really easy to apply and blend. Even I managed which is saying something because I struggle immensely with makeup! It made me so happy and that alone was worth the money. It also came with an adorable booklet which gave three looks to try with very simple instructions on how to achieve them. I have already attempted two which both went surprisingly well and I look forward to trying a third one. I have honestly never used such a good quality eyeshadow before.

Other Things to Mention

I love the fact that this palette is peach scented! It smells gorgeous, and is a real novelty feature. I also love the packaging, it's so pretty and peach themed too. The peachy names of the shades are fab too! I also liked the booklet that I mentioned as it helps you make the most of the palette. The lighter colours are great for summer, and the darker ones are good for winter so it's not season specific either. All in all I am very happy with this! I give it 10/10, despite the slight price and availability issues.
